- Abstract
- The Russian physicist Peshkov had claimed to have discovered superfluidity in liquid 3He at ultra-low temperature. Wheatley was the leading American ultra-low temperature physicist at the time and disputed his claim. This is a picture of the confrontation everyone expected at this meeting. Superfluidity in 3He was discovered in 1971 at an even lower temperature by Douglas D. Osheroff, Caltech BS ’67. Osheroff shared the Nobel Prize for this discovery. Physicists--Individual.
